In particular, her clinical research studies have examined the safety and effectiveness of low carbohydrate diets, as well as Mediterranean, high monounsaturated fat diets. Dr. Brehm’s research results laid the groundwork for further studies of diets with varying macronutrient content, and provided critical information about diet recommendations for optimal health in overweight persons, particularly those with diabetes. She has presented her research at professional meetings throughout the nation and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Brehm has gained recognition for her nutrition and research expertise via local, national, and international media.
