UC researchers continue to blaze new trails in science, medicine, business, education, engineering and the arts — literally transforming the way we live, work and learn.

Findings is the Office of Research’s newsletter, which began in October 2017. It delivers monthly updates to faculty, staff, students, and community partners about impactful research, initiatives, partnerships, events, and opportunities at the University of Cincinnati. The Office of Research spearheads the UC Nanobioscience Research Institute

The UC Office of Research is launching the first-of-its-kind Nanobioscience Research Institute (NBSRI) that’s advancing cutting-edge R&D in biomedical areas. The work of this dynamic group of prominent nanobioscientists is already having real-world health implications. The NBSRI will focus on key areas such as nanomaterials, biosensing, drug delivery, diagnostics, and the environmental impact of nanoscale technologies.

This powerhouse group of world-renowned experts from UC’s colleges of medicine, pharmacy, engineering, and arts & sciences will co-locate in UC’s future interdisciplinary wet lab facility (for which planning is now underway) where side-by-side they’ll be training our nation’s future scientists, developing groundbreaking knowledge and technologies, and improving the quality of life for all.

The institute will be supported by an executive advisory board of experts from across the university:

  • Dr. Xiaoting Zhang – College of Medicine

  • Dr. Somchai Chutipongtanate – College of Medicine

  • Dr. Jiajie Diao – College of Medicine

  • Dr. Joan Garrett – College of Pharmacy

  • Dr. Leyla Esfandiari – College of Engineering and Applied Science

  • Dr. Donglu Shi – College of Engineering and Applied Science

  • Dr. Andrew Steckl – College of Engineering and Applied Science

  • Dr. Ryan White – College of Arts & Sciences

This multidisciplinary team will shape the institute’s programs and drive research excellence, ensuring UC remains a leader in nanobioscience.
