The infrastructure that supports the IRB is funded by the indirect (F&A) return on expenditures. That cost is not captured when the funding is run outside of UC (e.g. if the contract runs through UCHealth or CERV). To minimize the impact on contracts in negotiation effective January, 2019 the fees for externally funded studies will be as follows:

• New Studies: $2,500
• Fast-track review: $5,000
• Exempt studies: $625
• Continuing review: $1,250
• Reliance on a Commercial IRB: $625
• Modification: $300

There is no charge for administrative amendments.
