Defense Research Initiatives

The UC Defense Research Office is responsible for developing and managing research programs that support the Dept of Defense. This includes compliance oversight of sensitive and classified research activities.

All Forms, Policies and Procedures are now located within Research How 2, where faculty and staff will find a centralized location for all their transactional needs.

Welcome to the UC Defense Research Initiatives Office.  We are dedicated to assisting faculty, staff and students in establishing, conducting, and coordinating basic and applied research activities in support of US national defense.  This includes providing information regarding the Department of Defense (DoD) research priorities, opportunities, resources, and legal/regulatory requirements to conduct such research.

This office is home the Facility Security Officer for UC, who ensures compliance with the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual and UC Policy regarding classified research.  This includes implementing procedures to safeguard classified information and reporting requirements for UC personnel with personal security clearances.
